Korat Owners: Pam Pittaway, Laidley, Queensland - Cont'd

Korats bond very well to humans when you put the time in, and can be very loving and interactive. Both her predecessor and our current Korat (Chicory) love to play 'hide and seek' with their humans, exchanging roles as the hider or seeker as the game progresses. Our 19 year old actively played this game right up until her demise (euthanased at 19 due to massive organ failure). Both Chicory and her predecessor also consciensciously grant their humans 'equal time,' when it comes to bestowing affection. She will jump onto one of us for a few minutes to purr and smooge, before jumping over to the longer term beneficiary and settling in for a snooze. Both cats also respond to arguments between their carers. Chicory becomes very agitated and concerned at raised voices, even to the extent of jumping up at me to intervene.

So, why invest in a Korat? Well, on the purely practical, their very short hair and single coat does not shed as readily and prolifically as other breeds, a very real benefit to cat loving allergy sufferers. They also make very good companions, provided you are interested in partnerships and not dictatorships! They are intelligent, active cats with very distinctive personalities and tastes. Your investment will require time and effort, but the rewards are great!
